Wheelbarrow Blues

Wheelbarrow Blues is a painting done mostly en plein air at a local farm here in Southwest Ohio. The intense blue caught my eye as I walked through the barn and saw the light fixed on it. The day was hot and the light was quickly changing so I tried to capture that moment when the blue was highlighted. I liked the strong sunlit angles and repeated triangles contrasted with the curve of the wheelbarrow and the shadowy recesses of the barn where a few more wheelbarrows were hiding. I was pleased that the design came together quickly. The piece is done on Lacarte with Terry Ludwig and Sennelier pastels.
