Winter Visitor

My goal with this pastel was to create a somewhat abstract feel to the painting using soft pastels. The waves were breaking along the shore despite the calm ocean so that part the composition was turbulent and the other part restful. The wintering loon, feeding along the edge of the waves, help to stitch together the two pieces of the painting.
