I was in Florence when the pandemic had already started in Northern Italy.
Traditional carnivals were canceled after that day. This tired performer was sitting on a column in the Piazza Santa Croce, watching a circus performance.
I took a picture of him without thinking that I’ll draw him some day.
But now looking through my photos I see him as a symbol of the beginning of the chaos which was caused by the pandemic.
The medium is Strathmore Printmaking paper. I used water mixable oil and a Diane Townsend Ground as a base for applying pastels, which allowed me to make marks over it.
