The cabbage was growing in a garden which I toured in South Africa. We were surrounded by beauty on all sides; mountains, vineyards, landscaped gardens, a winery, but this caught my eye. It is the kind of subject I am often drawn to, simple and ordinary, yet intricate and beautiful. I took a photo and painted it once I got home.
