The High Peaks of the Adirondack Mountains in upstate NY have filled me with joy since I bicycled over a pass and first saw them more than 30 years ago. In August, the Adirondacks glow with fields of goldenrod, a burst of color that precedes the glory of fall foliage that follows just a few weeks later. This was painted en plein air from the side of a road leading to the trailhead for many of the major peaks. I think I captured the texture and feeling of the scene pretty well. This is only my second summer working with pastels, and when I compare this to pastels I did last summer, I'm pleased with the progress I have made. Feels like progress on my pastel journey!
