Alaskan Tundra

Alaskan Tundra, Emerging Pastel Artist
Alaskan Tundra
This is a view of the bleak tundra in southern Alaska with its slender pines, as seen from the window of a train. It was a rainy day in early September, and I was able to grab only two or three quick photos of this spot. The painting is an amalgamation of features of two different photos. I used a simple pastel underpainting washed with isopropyl alcohol.
