His Feathered Friend

This is a pastel painting inspired from a photo I took of a friends young son walking around my yard with my young pet rooster on his shoulder. The expression on the boys face as he was eye to eye with this rooster was priceless. I kept this photo for five or six years until I took some lessons on painting portraits before I felt prepared to paint this. I am thrilled with the results.
