There is a field about five minutes from my home that is flooded during the winter and spring. American Wigeons are common in the area where I live and I enjoyed portraying this handsome fellow as he gently moved away from the bank before me. The light in this scene was a particular draw as well, and when I decided the painting was finished, I felt I had finally captured the feeling of that beautiful day. I created this piece using Nupastel, Holbein and Sennelier pastels on UART 400 grade paper.
