Everglades Airboat Ride

Everglades Airboat Ride is based on a photo I took while flying through the Everglades on an airboat. I blocked in the main land shapes with dark blue hard pastels and the sky with an orangey red hard pastel. Using isopropyl alcohol, I smeared the colors around with a brush to cover the white of the sanded paper. I then layered my pastels on top, using narrow and wide mark making in the foreground and blurred trees in the background to try and give the impression of motion.
