Balancing Life on the Tip of an Artist's Paintbrush

Created with an underpainting of liquefied pastel, using an alcohol wash. Layering of pastels was completed thoughtfully to incorporate the underpainting elements to create the appearance of well-worn brushes. Washing my hands after working on a pastel painting, the rack of well-used brushes, used by countless students at the community art association, served as the inspiration for this painting.
