The inspiration for Rushing water came from the magnificent scenery of the Clark Fork River, Montana. Beginning with multiple photos, thumbnail sketches of the scene, and my memories, I worked to create a pleasing composition. I work on the composition until I have captured the emotion of the scene adding more details until I feel the work reflects my original vision. Working with pastels allows me to explore color combinations and layering effects to create paintings that capture the beauty of the natural world.
